How I Decided My Summer Homework

          So for deciding what my summer homework was going to be, I talked to my college counselor Beth. I've met with her a couple times this summer and she helps me set goals, and make decisions about extra curriculars and things like that. I was telling her about the things I was going to do this summer and when I mentioned that I was going to mathnasium all summer she was all for blogging about it. I also mentioned that I was joining swim team this summer and she thought that I could also blog about that because it's something I haven't done before and she thought it could count as summer homework and something I learned. My mathnasium counts as 10 hours for math and my swim team counts as 10 hours for PF. She had the idea of me writing about my sleep away camp experience because it was a leadership program, but there was no school subject that I could get graded on for writing about that. So I decided to stick to the math and swim team.

Day 6: Second Day in Hanoi

Thursday, April 20, 2017           4am, awake and ready for a full day! In Hanoi, sunrise is at 5:30 and some of our scavenges required being done before sunrise, hence the 4am wake up calls. We took a cab to a flower market, and a market on the Long Bien bridge. Then we walked across the Long Bien bridge, which was built buy Gustav Eiffel. It's a little over a mile long and it was 5:15 in the morning, I was pretty tired. However, that kicked in my adrenaline and I was really awake for the majority of the day. 1 of the many temples          We took a cab from there to the Hanoi Hilton, and while walking to the Melia (Marriott) hotel, we stopped to have a pho breakfast. The only pho place open was a very small place, and we sat on the sidewalk on kids toy furniture. It ended up being a very good meal. We got to the Melia to get casino chips, only to learn that they play with American dollars, so we got two bucks. We took a cab to a park where we learned tai chi for about 10

First Day: Arrival!!!

Friday, April 14, 2017           Today is the first day and I am full of anxiety. I am so anxious to get this trip started. Oh my gosh, I'm nervous, excited, tired, and more nervous. We left our house around 8:30 with lots of hugs and kisses goodbye, and took off for San Francisco around 10:30. There were no fist fights on this flight, super grateful. We were on the same flight as Zoe Littlepage (Jordan Penchas' mom) and her partner for this trip, Rainey. They were willing to give us tons of advice and told us a lot about their previous times going on this trip, (this being their 10th time and all). Hearing all of their stories just made me even more anxious, but less in denial.           We got to the hotel around 1, which by the way, IS HUGE AND FANCY AND GORGEOUS. Day 2: First Day of Scavenges!!

Saturday, April 15, 2017           Day 2, we made it! We were up at 7:30, ready by 8:30, and scavenging by 9:30. Busy busy busy. We had a group photo in front of a cable car before we got our first scavenge lists (where the first phone of the trip was stolen). After receiving our scavenge list and map, my dad and I went with Catherine and Greg (the other daddy-daughter team) back to the hotel lobby to talk and plan out our day and what we would do together. You are able to do 3 scavenges per day with another team, all the other scavenges you have to do with only your own team. Just BTW, if my spelling and some grammar is off I apologize, I am sitting on the floor in the airport and it is 3am Houston time, so I'm felling like a zombie.
